The gas industry uses a calculation to change what your meters tells us about your use into something that matches your electricity.
For the maths whizzes amongst you, here is the calculation:
1. Obtain the units used (the new reading – the old reading)
2. Multiply by 1.02264 (volume correction for temperature and pressure)
3. Multiply by calorific value (energy content of each cubic metre of gas)
4. Divide by 3.6 (conversion from joules to kWh)
